Mission of the Blaine Soil Conservation District: To coordinate and deliver technical, financial, and educational assistance for responsible natural resource management, that would conserve and improve air, soil, and water quality as well as fish and wildlife habitat.
Trends Impacting Conservation in the Blaine Soil Conservation District: Growth in the district is developing a greater need for urban and educational projects that will help land owners maintain properties with appropriate water use and conservation practices.
Projects Planned, Coordinated or Managed: The Blaine Soil Conservation District is sponsoring several urban ‘water users’ workshops, as well as landscaping and weed control workshops for all members of the county. We also support the Blaine Bug Crew, Youth Conservation Day Field trips, Envirothon and provide educational fun at the Blaine County Fair. A new project this year is to help reestablish the FFA program in the county. This will allow more opportunities for the small rural communities.
Funding Sources for District Operations and Projects Coordinated: We annually sponsor a Blaine Soil Conservation District tree sale, as well as receive contributions from the county and matching funds from the State. Anticipated funds are 13,000.00 from Blaine County, and $20,600 from the State of Idaho.
